Ms. Gilbert was born in April and her hometown is Bourne, MA.  She went to college at Vermont College and Norwich University.
Favorite teacher? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Barns. She was my third-grade teacher at Peebles School. I remember she always made learning fun. I fondly recall her teaching us “tricks” so we would remember how to spell challenging words correctly.
If you were not in education what other profession would you like to attempt?   I have never wanted to do any other than teach. My mother was a teacher in Bourne for many years and I couldn’t wait to become a teacher myself.
Do you have pets? No, we don’t have pets anymore.  We did when our 3 children were growing up but not now that they are all adults.
Favorite color? My favorite color is purple of course!
Favorite Quote or Saying? “Fifty years from now it will not matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of house you lived in, how much you had in your bank account, or what your clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because you were important in the life of a child.” - Anonymous
Where is the farthest place you have ever traveled? I am lucky enough to have traveled quite a bit.  I think the farthest place I’ve visited is England.
Favorite Food? My favorite food is lobster and steamed clams. There is no better way to end a sunny Cape Cod summer day than to have steamed clams and lobster in the backyard surrounded with family and friends.
Hobbies or Activities/Organizations you are active in? I love to travel with my family and friends. I usually spend winters skiing and summers near the water.  I love spending time with my husband and our 3 children. However, now I can’t seem to find enough time to be with my 2 new grandchildren Mila and Owen.  They are so much fun to be around. They always make me smile.
Being the President of the Bourne Educators Association as well as being on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association keeps me quite busy.
