Favorite teacher? I had so many great teachers growing up, but my favorite was my fourth grade teacher, Ms. Piva. She had such a good sense of humor, and took the time to get to know the students. I remember that she created a raffle to win a Gizmo doll (from the Gremlins movie), and I won. I won’t ever forget how excited I was when my name was pulled from the container. If you were not in education what other profession would you like to attempt? I would love to work on a cruise ship as a receptionist. I could travel the world, and get to know a lot of new people. I love volunteering with my 12 year old and 16 year old because sometimes the perceptions that we have of people aren’t always correct. There is so much good out there if you look for it. I also love paddle boarding, NKOTB, traveling, and watching movies. Ms. Cook was born in October and her hometown is Bourne, MA. She went to college at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Favorite teacher? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Ferguson - English teacher at BHS. She had high expectations and loved the subject she taught. I'm currently spending most of my time getting my CAGS in Ed Leadership at Bridgewater State. It doesn't leave me much time for other activities. Ms. Gilbert was born in April and her hometown is Bourne, MA. She went to college at Vermont College and Norwich University.
Favorite teacher? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Barns. She was my third-grade teacher at Peebles School. I remember she always made learning fun. I fondly recall her teaching us “tricks” so we would remember how to spell challenging words correctly. If you were not in education what other profession would you like to attempt? I have never wanted to do any other than teach. My mother was a teacher in Bourne for many years and I couldn’t wait to become a teacher myself. Do you have pets? No, we don’t have pets anymore. We did when our 3 children were growing up but not now that they are all adults. Favorite color? My favorite color is purple of course! I am lucky enough to have traveled quite a bit. I think the farthest place I’ve visited is England. Favorite Food? My favorite food is lobster and steamed clams. There is no better way to end a sunny Cape Cod summer day than to have steamed clams and lobster in the backyard surrounded with family and friends. Hobbies or Activities/Organizations you are active in? I love to travel with my family and friends. I usually spend winters skiing and summers near the water. I love spending time with my husband and our 3 children. However, now I can’t seem to find enough time to be with my 2 new grandchildren Mila and Owen. They are so much fun to be around. They always make me smile. Being the President of the Bourne Educators Association as well as being on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association keeps me quite busy. Ms. Parrish was born in September and her hometown is Newton, MA. She went to college at Suffolk University (undergrad) and UMASS Boston (Masters).
Favorite teacher? Mr. Kunitz was my social studies teacher in 10th grade, he was a great teacher and he had a really funny personality, he made learning fun. If you were not in education what other profession would you like to attempt? I was a corporate paralegal in Boston before teaching in Bourne, I would go back to law if I didn’t teach.
