Ms. Eldridge was born in November and her father was in the Army so she spent most of her younger years living in a new place every 4 years; however, she was able to attend and graduate from Bourne High School! She went to college at Lesley University for my Graduate degree and UMass North Dartmouth for my undergraduate degree.
Favorite teacher? Although I’ve had many great teachers; I think my High School English teacher, Mrs. Ferguson stands out the most for me. She never let me off the hook with my writing; the endless rewrites! But the biggest impact she had on me was that she managed to teach me to not be so afraid of the reading adventure and that whatever connection or meaning that I brought to a book was a good experience and to enjoy and get lost within those story’s pages. If you were not in education what other profession would you like to attempt? Although I had left the business world to pursue one of the most rewarding careers I’ve had, I’d say my dream career would be as a country singer or to co-host with Jimmy Fallon! Do you have pets? Yes, I have a tabby cat and a German Shepherd. Favorite Color? This would be a toss up between blue or green! Favorite Quote or Saying? My kids tell me I could publish a book of my favorite quotes/sayings! One that first pops into my head is by J.K. Rowling, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” and my second favorite that I’ve often quoted versions of to my own two sons is from Albert Einstein, “You never fail until you stop trying.” Where is the farthest place you have ever traveled? Although I lived the better part of my youth in Europe, I’d say Japan; I traveled and lived there on my own as an “Exchange Student” type opportunity with a wonderful family for three months. Favorite Food? My absolute favorite food are Jiaozi, which are Chinese Dumplings. I learned how to make these yummy treats from my father’s childhood friend from China, Loretta. Second to those, milk chocolate - the other food group! Hobbies or Activities/Organizations you are active in? This always seems like the simplest question for one to answer; but I always lose myself in trying to answer it. I’ve been told that it may be a form of lack of attention or such.; however; I think of it more as I seem to just be hard-wired to never stop wanting to learn and try out new things.! It may be easier to list what I don’t do in that I continue to love and work with all kinds of crafts, art, music, all kinds of sports -mostly hockey! A few summers ago, I learned the art of Nantucket basket weaving and have managed to weave a few out! I enjoy decorative painting and have entered many of my works in the Barnstable County Fair. I love all kinds of paper crafting and card making. My mother handed down her love of sewing, and I’ve found that I really love working and training my German Shepherd; I am working on training her as a medical support pet as well as learning and training with her in German.
